FCS Surf Hardware

NTD collaborated with the FCS design team to develop a new longboard fin, replacing the previous model with an eco-friendly version made from 100% locally sourced recycled nylon. The key challenge was achieving the right balance of stiffness and flexibility for optimal performance. After extensive material testing, a 43% glass-filled recycled nylon was selected.

The tooling project was complex, involving a 2000kg mould with interchangeable inserts to produce two cavities across eight fin variations. The cavities were crafted from hardened high-chromium tool steel to deliver a very high-gloss finish, even with the high glass content nylon material.
